Joint Committee of Faculty & Students (University Committee)
Committee Description
The Joint Committee of Faculty and Students was created as a common forum for representatives of the Faculty Senate and the Student Government Association to facilitate efforts to improve student-faculty relations and encourage student recommendations in areas of Faculty Senate policy-formulation which affect student life.
The Joint Committee is led by a student Co-Chair and a faculty Co-Chair. Its membership currently includes seven students, seven faculty members, and seven senior administrators.
The Committee may exercise advisory powers in matters it decides are important to the University community by making recommendations in the form of resolutions conveyed to the Faculty Senate, the Student Government Association, the President, the Provost, or any other appropriate university official or body.
The Committee may also study matters or resolutions referred to it by either the Faculty Senate or the Student Government Association, and with respect to such matters or resolutions, make recommendations and reports to the Faculty Senate or to the Student Government Association in accordance with their respective governing documents.
