Call for Self-Nominations: Implementation Advisory Subcommittee

Committee Description/Mission

The mission of the Physical Facilities and Safety Committee is to consider, on behalf of the Faculty Senate, all matters affecting the physical facilities and campus safety of the University. The goal of the Committee is to attempt to ensure that physical facilities are appropriate for the execution of the mission of the University.

A submission of this Committee is to review the annual plan for physical facilities to ensure that it is reasonable in light of the University's goals and constraints. The goal of the Committee is to ensure the appropriateness of the priorities assigned to tasks.

Another submission of this Committee is to review the long-term development plan for physical facilities and campus safety. The goal of the Committee is to assure its reasonableness in light of the perceived needs of the total University community.

In addition, a submission of this committee is to think creatively about the future physical facility needs of the University, define them, and seek their adoption by the administration. The goal of the committee is to ensure that the physical plant will be responsive to the developing needs of the University community.

Still, another submission of this Committee is to independently assess the current condition of the physical plant, particularly from the point of view of safety, and to make any recommendations deemed appropriate.

Further, another submission of this Committee is to be available to the administration to provide advice and counsel on any matter affecting physical facilities and campus safety, especially proposed changes to the physical plant.

Finally, another submission of this Committee is, while maintaining a University-wide perspective, to voice a point of view of the faculty on all physical facility and campus safety matters affecting the execution of the teaching/research mission.
